Description: In August 2019, Basildon was awarded over £1.2million in Creative People & Places - Arts Council England funding.

Creative People and Places (CPP) is about more people choosing, creating and taking part in brilliant art experiences in the places where they live. It is only awarded to places that have low engagement with culture.

Things Made Public CIC was lead applicant for the funding application (entitled BasildON), supported by a consortium made up of local stakeholders including private, public and third sector organisations.

We have until 8th May 2020 to finalise the BasildON business plan and make a start on exciting factors including design & marketing, which is where YOU come in.

We’re on the hunt for an innovative, professional designer who can work with Basildon Consortium to develop an exciting, fresh and timeless brand for the BasildON CPP. The branding will be the first thing that the community sees when the initiative is launched and will anchor the range of projects delivered under the CPP umbrella.

Alongside this, we would also want you to develop the branding for the first two projects that will launch as part of BasildON CPP. These are:

Community Voices
Community Voices is a virtual and physical network that acts as a vehicle by which the community can drive the direction of the programme, shaping the cultural offer of Basildon at its core. Residents of Basildon are able to sign up to a purpose built web portal and become a ‘community voice’ themselves. The web portal communicates all aspects of the CPP programme, as well as showcasing opportunities to participate in commissioning, programming, steering and educational visits.

Open Labs
Open Labs will invite digital and cultural practitioners and organisations to ‘pop-up’ throughout the town with a focus on creative, digital and experience based activity on a rolling two monthly basis. Using a tiered bursary system to encourage both the bigger players and niche forward thinkers, a trail of Open Labs will populate the town centre, with an online mapping service implemented to encourage visitors to travel through Basildon on an experiential, learning journey.

w/c 13th Jan 2020: Designer chosen
3rd Feb 2020: Designer briefed on BasildON CPP, Community Voices and Open Lab branding stage 1 (logo, font, brand feel)
10th Feb -24th Feb 2020: Designer to develop Stage 1 design work for BasildON CPP, Community Voices and Open Lab brand (3 options of each required)
w/c 24th Feb 2020: Designer to present Stage 1 design work for BasildON CPP, Community Voices and Open Lab brand (3 options of each required) to Basildon Consortium and Arts Council England for feedback
2nd March 2020: Stage 1 branding finalised for BasildON CPP, Community Voices and Open Lab brand. Branding for Community Voices and Open lab signed off.
9th March 2020: Designer briefed on BasildON CPP branding stage 2 (development of collateral inc. business cards, letter head, brand guidelines)
9th March - 17th March 2020: Designer to develop Stage 2 design work for BasildON CPP brand
17th - 20th March 2020: Feedback on stage 2 branding
w/c 23rd March 2020: Stage 2 work finalised and signed off.

MUST BE BASED IN UK AND AVAILABLE TO ATTEND MEETINGS IN BASILDON, ESSEX
