Description: I am looking for a writer to work on daily news content for my online website. Ultimately, you should be able to deliver high-quality work under minimum supervision.

WORK INVOLVED

Research and write 2 good quality SEO curated news posts daily

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

- A good grasp of content curation best practices
- An understanding of the nuts and bolts of good journalism practices (i.e. fact-checking and copy-editing basics, correct sourcing methods, etc.)
- A deep understanding of contemporary African culture and trends OR very good research skills
- A strong eye for visuals (writers are responsible for sourcing story art)
- A generalist sensibility and proven experience producing quality content across a variety of subjects
- Exceptional skills in writing, editing, and packaging stories that are clicky and conversational, yet informative and accurate
- Experienced with WordPress
- Experienced with SEO (Yoast SEO)
- Use SEO and analytics to inform content creation and reach traffic goals
- Basic Image Editing skills (familiar with Canva a plus)
- Strong research and sourcing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent command of English grammar
- Proofreading and editing skills
Working conditions:6+ months
