Description: Hi,
We’re developing an app for scanning business cards and need some specific input from a German native speaker.
We're looking to create a training set of 100 German business cards for our systems. Whoever does this job needs to be a native German speaker.

This task has two main tasks:
TASK 1 – find, scan and transcribe 100 German business cards

1) You'll need to find 100 business cards which are in German. These need to be from 100 different companies (we don't want business cards which look the same and just have different text). Please make sure they’re in German and not in English. They should also be normal horizontal cards, not verical ones.

2) Once you’ve got all 100 of them please download Covve Scan on your iPhone or Android (visit http://scanner.cards for download link) and scan all 100 of them. This MUST be done in one day and ideally in one session so that we can then locate them. Note that the free version of the app allows you to scan 10 cards. So, scan 10 cards, delete them, scan the next 10, delete them and so on.

3) Then complete the attached spreadsheet (TASK1.xls) with the data within the cards. The spreadsheet provides some guidance as to how to transcribe various pieces of data (e.g. the address needs to go in one line; if there are multiple phones, they should be separated by |). One overarching, very important point here is that the text needs to be transcribed EXACTLY as it appears on the card. E.g. if the job title ends with a full stop, we need the full stop transcribed. If the address has a comma at the end of each line, we need this to be included. Don’t add any extra words and don’t try to guess or interpret the data – just write exactly what is written on the card. Attached is also a sample of 3 cards we've already done (in English).
When you start this task, please send over a set of 5 cards (both photos of the cards and the spreadsheet) so that we can check them.

TASK 2 – review lists of German words

See TASK2.xls. This has 3 sheets/tabs which you need to review:

Tab 1) A long list of first names (e.g. John, Alex). Many will be in German but some will be in English or other languages. I want you to review each of these and simply write "N" in column B if this isn't a name that you recognise. If you don't recognise a word then just say "N" - no need to try and understand it or figure it out. Some clarifications and examples:
- If it is a surname and not a firstname write "N"
- If it is a name of a place or something which is not a person, write "N"
- If it is a name in another language and you happen to recognise it just leave it (don't write "N")
- if it is a name in German but is written without the correct accents etc then leave it (don't write "N")
- if it is a name in German but is in capital letters then leave it (don't write "N")
- if it is a description of someone (e.g. "mother") then its not a name and you should write "N"
- if it is not spelt correct, write N

If you're unsure about anything else do ask me!

Tab 2) A long list of job titles. The same rules apply... If it is a job title that you recognise please leave it, if its not, write "N" in column C

Tab 3) A list of words that we've seen appear often when people write addresses. We need to know what these mean. For example, in English a lot of addresses have the word "Str." which means "Street" or "No." which means "Number".
So, we need to know, for each of these words, what it means and if you'd expect to see it as part of an address.
Some rules:
- If its the name of a place or a street or town (e.g. London) then just write "Placename"
- If the word shouldn't appear on addresses generally then write "No" in column B

Please do the first 20 or so of each tab in the spreadsheet and sent to me for a quick check.
