We are currently looking for a visual designer to join our humble team and help us make some awesome designs for an array of clientele. Our clients have ranged from environmental industries to the latest in tech. Job Description
In your role as a visual designer, your day-to-day tasks will consist of creating visually engaging, innovative and functional mobile and web products. Your ability to bring your vision and concepts to life will not only be welcomed but celebrated. One of the key aspects of your role is a thorough understanding of the right balance between usability, design and our customers needs. Since this is a freelance contract position, please note that work will be assigned at random and hours will depend on the week. We will aim to inform you in advance for weeks that will require more than 5-10 hours.
Responsibilities
As our visual designer, your responsibilities will include areas of design such as typography, iconography, color, space and texture. You will use your knowledge, expertise and skills in all these fields to help our client’s users successfully navigate and become comfortable with our products.
More responsibilities in detail:
Present the user-interface visually so that information is easy to read, easy to understand and easy to scan.
Prepare work by gathering information and materials.
Generate clear ideas, concepts and designs of creative assets from beginning to end.
Work collaboratively with other designers to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and user-experience.
Translate client business requirements, user needs, technical requirements into designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging.
Staying in the loop and on top of the latest industry standards, changes, trends in visual design field.
Present and defend your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.)
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in designing brand identities, grid systems, editorial layouts and applications for web, desktop and mobile.
Portfolio or website showcasing prior work must be provided to be considered for this position.
Well organized, responsible and dedicated, with the ability to work on multiple projects and deliver refined design in a short time.
Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast evolving environment.
Proven ability delivering high quality designs to customers.
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Invision, and Sketch/Figma
Be open to receiving objective criticism and improving upon it.
Preferred Qualifications
Expert level skills in Adobe Photoshop, Invision, Sketch/Figma.
Proficient with a prototyping software (ex. Protopie) and an animation tool (ex. After Effects).
The ability to refine other people’s ideas and come up with new ones to create a highly designed visual experience.
Understands and can implement responsive design
Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop, tablet, and mobile, Android and iOS.
Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
