- Description
- I am an author looking for a particular gifted illustrator with an affinity for Carroll's Alice in Wonderland stories to work with me on a very unique book project. I cannot release confidential particulars in a general posting, but the basics are as follows:
The artist/illustrator must demonstrate a creative feel for the nature of the Alice In Wonderland works so as to be able to illustrate 30-50 scenes/quotes (from Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass) in an original form OR expand on the public domain original illustrations by Sir John Tenniel to include other scenes as needed.
If original, the artistic style used to recreate Carroll's characters and Wonderland world background must be distinctive, timelessly classic, captivating, universal - appealing to both adults and children. Ie; The Tim Burton version of Alice In Wonderland exemplifies such qualities.
The first illustration required would be a depiction of the famous conversation between Alice and the White Queen found in “Through the Looking Glass" as follows:
"Alice laughed: "There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
The Downside: I don't have a big budget to work with right now due to the huge costs involved in creating the foundational work and establishing key relationships and media relationships and network.
The Upside: The groundwork has been laid, the end product is unique in its class and will provide significant exposure opportunity for the artist chosen to create the illustrations. The book will be launched as a sequal/companion to one which is preparing to launch publicly this year with celebrity support, media interviews and access to a substantial media network.
