- In this easy project, you will develop simple instructions on how to use a Semiconductor Parameter Analyzer, to measure the parameters of a transistor, a diode.
I am trying to commercialize novel transistors and novel diodes that can be printed on a printing press.
I can provide you with a couple of pages of quotes from scientific articles to eyeball about the characteristics of the transistors and diodes. These quotes will allow you to instruct about the ranges to measure.
These transistors and diodes are similar to industry standard components, but they differ a little. For example, I predict that their current leakage will be a little higher.
I have purchased a HP/Agilent 4145 S.P.A., a DCA75, a potentionstat, and a 4 point probe.
Here are the milestones for this project :
Milestone 1 : You will eyeball the quotes from scientific articles to verify that the old 4145 S.P.A. is suitable to measure the characteristics of the printed devices.
Milestone 2 : You will eyeball photos of my primitive custom test fixture, and advise changes to try to improve the test fixture performance.
Milestone 3 : You will quickly writeup a checklist of the predicted characteristics of the transistor devices and diode devices based on the data quoted from the scientific articles, and a comparable checklist of the testing ranges for the S.P.A.
Milestone 4.1 "Engineers measure": You will provide writeup simple written informal instructions about simple programming of the S.P.A. If efficient, you may want to just add your handwritten ranges and values and instructions to the tutorials already provided within the HP4145 manual, HP Task Guide. An example of the HP Task Guide is uploaded below.

We agree that some of these parameters are difficult to measure, or difficult to calculate, or have little usefulness to industry. In these events, we agree that these parameters can be ommitted from the project list.
The budget for this project is approximately USD$70.00 to People per Hour.
