- Hi,
I'm in need of a short story on depression. This is a contract to hire position, so no credit will be given, although I do always leave feedback and look to hire people I've worked with before who I feel fit the project.
The subject of the story is depression or more so living with a spouse who suffers from depression. This isn't a tough-love story, so some experience on the sensitivity of this relationship dynamic is helpful.
I would like the story to be between 4,000 and 5,000 words.
I will provide a short document which has the theme and basics about the story, but you will need to create the actual story.
What I would like from you in your bid:
1. Flat rate bid. You can choose task-based if you like, but the flat rate should be included in the body of your bid. I will pay $10 for the outline and then the remainder for the story. *Please combine the two in your bid, not your bid, plus $10.
2. Relevant experience on the topic. While this isn't required, it can be helpful.
3. Samples of short stories (published or not). It's helpful to have a similar subject, but if you don't have a similar subject any short story for adults is fine. I am looking for your writing ability when it comes to samples rather than the subject.
4. I prefer to pay the full amount at the end, since I've had so many people flake after paying a deposit. But, I will put the funds into safepay if that helps.
5. A timeline of when I will see a final product. I am flexible, but I d prefer to know how long it will take or if you are going to be late just let me know.
What I am looking for regarding the submission and writing:
1. Outline prior to writing. The outline can be bulletted or in paragraph style and i don't have requirements regarding the length. What I am looking for is a coherent story based on the document I provide. I may provide suggestions so please don't begin writing until you hear from me about the outline.
2. I would like to see the first two pages after you've started writing so I have an idea of your style and can make suggestions before you get too into the story. The first two pages aren't a test, I just like to know how it looks.
3. A clean document, with as few errors as possible. Essentially, I want to know that effort was made to review a document before sending.
4. Stay away from fluff as much as possible. Building a story is fine, just make sure everything is relevant. Try not to go crazy on the adverbs and adjectives.
