Description: Thrive with Pride_Drag For Diplomas is the inaugural fundraising event for The Dr. Annise Mabry Foundation, Inc.
This is event will be a collaboration between The Dr. Annise Mabry Foundation, Inc and The Atlanta Pride Committee.

What I need--I am looking to possibly outsource the creation of a Sponsorship Package. As a nonprofit organization, we have a very small budget for sponsorship proposal development.

More About Dr. Annise Mabry
In 2015, I began working with Georgia's academically invisible because as an educator and as a homeschool mom, I had to do something that would disrupt the education to prison pipeline.

Students were no longer simply dropping out--they were being pushed out and forced out through a process that academicians have termed educational exclusion.
Educational exclusion in school is real. "LGBTQ students face a distinct and daunting combination of forces chipping away at their connection to school, their will to persevere, and their ability to complete their studies" stated Dr. Eliza Byrd in the 2016 GLSEN Educational Exclusion Report.

The numbers from the GLSEN report are eye-opening:
55.3% of LGBTQ students report victimization as a result of sexual orientation
35.6% of LGBTQ students received detention, 15.1% received in or out of school suspension; and, 1.3% have been expelled. But the most gut-wrenching number of all-- 96.6% of LGBTQ students indicated that they planned to graduate high school and 94.5% planned to continue on to some type of post-secondary education.

In 2017, my nonprofit organization partnered with two local nonprofits--one that works with homeless LGTBQ youth and one that works with victims of sex trafficking. In 2018, we had a graduating class of 27 students and 4 of our graduates were either previously homeless LGBTQ youth or sex trafficking survivors. These four graduates are all pursuing higher education; and, are either enrolled in classes or in various stages of the college application or the financial aid process! It has been exciting to watch these young adults transform from high school dropouts to high school graduates and now future college students.

This event is to celebrate these academically invisible students as well as LGBTQ homeschool families who have used our alternative diploma program.
