Duration: 2 weeks.
Game mode: 2D only. Does not involve any kind of character or background animation. Since it is a prototype feature, dummy images/sprites can be used. In case any kind of graphics asset is required, it will be provided by me. No database integration required.
Platform: Android, mobile
Feature Description:
The gameplay is similar as shown in the following video clips:

Please have a look at both the video clips before reading further.
As shown in the clips, this is a text story feature wherein a player keeps tapping and the story continues in the form of text messages.
The story will have multiple chapters which can be played sequentially. When a player starts the story for the first time, it should begin with the first chapter. If a player has already started the story, he should be able to resume it from the last played point of the currently active chapter.
From time to time in the story, a player will be presented with a set of decisions to choose from. Based on the decision taken, the story branches out and continues. Once a decision has been made, only the text of the selected decision should be visible as a text message.
At any point, the player can scroll up and see all the previous messages of currently playing chapter.
The messages which appear can be of 3 types:
1. Message by the main character: Should have name and image thumbnail of character. Should always appear right aligned in the story.
2. Message by side characters: Should have name and image thumbnail of character. Should always appear left aligned in the story.
3. Message by the narrator: Should appear center aligned.
Based on content, a message can be of the following types:
1. Simple text message: These are text-only messages. They should appear on a base text box. The size of the base text box should be dynamic and should be calculated as per the size of the text message.
2. Image message: These messages will have a sprite/image as their content. The aspect ratio of the image should be maintained when it is displayed as a message.
If I exit the currently playing chapter and go to menu screen or exit the app altogether, and when I come back and start the same chapter again, it should resume from the same point where I left off. I should be able to see all the messages of that chapter till that point when I scroll up.
Types of decision:
A decision can be of two types:
1. Branch decision: Such a decision is already explained above. On selecting such decision, the story will branch out and continue.
2. Reset decision: On selecting such decision, the player can reset his progress to some earlier point in the story or even to the beginning of the chapter. This will delete all the progress till that point.
When a player reaches the end of the chapter, he should have two buttons, one for restarting the chapter and other to begin the next chapter, if next chapter is available else this button should be hidden.
