- Looking for someone to create an EA for me which is based around a trigger bar, set for a specific timeframe and looks at the high/low/open of that bar during the day and triggers trades when the high/low/open are broken based on a set of criteria.
I believe it is a fairly simple EA and will be similar chunks of code to many other EA’s. I do have a bit of programming experience years ago and have tried to figure out if I can code this myself but I do not know MQL nearly well enough to do it. I do know enough programming to know what probably can and can't be done and hopefully be able to explain the required logic if something is not clear.
I want to have the source code once it is completed so I can make future minor tweaks myself and I must be the owner of the EA.
Specific requirements for the EA:
I require an EA which will base trades around a particular bar (selectable) on a particular timeframe (selectable) on the current day, once the selected bar has closed.
• Option to base the trades on the open of that bar, or the high/low of that bar and an option to trade the high/low of the bar for the first xx minutes and then switch to using the open of the bar as the trade trigger instead.
• Option to add xx pips/points offset to the trigger so that the trades trigger when price goes xx pips/points above/below the high/low or open of the bar (depending on what method is currently being used for trade triggers at the time of the trigger, e.g. high/low or the open).
• Option to limit the time of day that the trades can be triggered to only between x and y.
• Paint up/down arrow showing the triggers, including painting the triggers for the previous xx days (selectable).
• Magic number so 2 EA’s can be put onto the same chart, because I may want to select 2 different trigger bars in a day, and can just attach the EA twice, once for each one and then change the settings on each (not the end of the world if this can't be done but is useful to have)
• Trades can only trigger once per bar on the selected trigger timeframe, i.e. if trigger timeframe is m30 then only 1 trade can be triggered per m30 bar.
• I would like it to draw the trigger lines it is currently using, so if set to the high and low of a particular bar and the offset is set to 10, then draw a horizontal line 10 above the high and 10 below the low at the points where the trade would be triggered. If currently set to use the open instead of the high/low then draw horizontal lines lines 10 above and below the open of that bar.
Usage Example. User sets the variables to use the M30 bar which begins at 13:00 as the trigger bar, sets it to use the high/low of that bar as the triggers, and sets 10 pips/points as their offset. So if the 13:00 to 13:30 bar has a high/low of 26110/26175 once the bar closes, trades will now trigger a long if price crosses above 26185 (10 points above the high, set by the offset variable) or a short trade if price moves below 26110 (10 points below the low, set by the offset variable). In this same situation if I have selected that it should switch to using the open of the bar after 60 minutes, once time gets to 14:30 (60 mins after the trigger bar closes) the EA will then use the open of that bar as the trigger (plus whatever the offset is, e.g. 10 points) instead of using the high/low. If we are not yet at the trigger bar time, e.g. if the time now is 11:00, and trigger bar is set to start 13:00 then no trades should happen (i.e. do not use the previous days trigger bar, only the current day). The trigger bar will only be valid for the day that the trigger bar appears in.
In terms of the trading part of it, this should all be fairly standard EA code: I want the ability to select whether trade size is a set size, a xx size per 1000 account value, or a % risk of account value based on how big you select the stop to be.
• Option to select stop as being the opposite of the trade trigger, e.g. if trade triggers short at 26110 then the stop should be the same place that a long would trigger, at 26185.
• Option to have the stop trailed
o Based on a set number of pips/points
o Based on the high of the last xx bars on xx timeframe
• TP can be set to a standard xx pips/points, xx money value, or xx % of account size
• Options for audible alerts, push notification alerts and email alerts when trades are opened and closed
The EA obviously also needs to be suitable for backtesting and optimization in MT4s strategy tester.
I use a UK spread betting account so the account is in GBP and the trade sizes are in £x per pip/point rather than in lots. I trade indices, commodities and fx so the trigger bar offset, trade size and sl/tp values need to take into account the different pip values of the instrument being traded, i.e. on S&P 1 point = 2800.00 to 2801.00 (a point is the last digit before the decimal) but on oil 1 point – 52.175 to 52.185 (second decimal is a point, 3rd decimal ignored, similar to JPY fx pairs).
