- I am looking to generate some 2 different profit reports based off of csv exports. I am pretty knowledgeable on how we need to set it it up, how to function, where to pull data from but am running into some complicated issues. Working together I feel we can get projects completed quickly BUT NEED HELP WITH MACRO WRITING AND WRITING ACCESS QUERIES
There are 2 "parts" to this project as the export spreadsheets that contain data are completely different sources of data. I want to use the most stream-lined and efficient method. Whether that is strictly using Excel macros, Access database tables/queries (which is what we currently use as our local database), or a combination of the both.
One profit report is for orders from our websites and all other channels. The second report is all based off of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) sales reports. I actually am pretty close with the FBA report and have the query/calculation already setup for this one, .
A few tricky parts to the first report:
1) The data contained in two spreadsheets...We have a CSV report which contains almost all the needed data, BUT the other data (item cost) is generated from different spreadsheet/table. So we will need to pull that cost data into our final report to calculate profit.
2) Spreadsheet with most of the data is tricky to calculate. i.e. Order data is on separate line-item rows for each item in the order so orders with multiple items needs to be added, however the order shipping price is duplicated on each row so the final calculation should only reflect one order shipping cost (if not free shipping)
3) Some stores (Amazon, eBay, Walmart) take a 15% commission of the sales price whereas the website store orders do not. So on those specific order outlets which can be distinguishable in the CSV files, the calculation needs to figure the 15% commission.
I have attached examples of the 3 different export files. Two of them can be combined into one CSV export if we can distinguish those that take the 15% commission. And on a phone call we can walkthrough some example imports and queries I already have setup. Working together I feel we can get projects completed quickly but need someone with great macro and query writing skills.
Basically, calculations are
FOR WEBSITES: sales price – cost – shipping cost + shipping paid = profit.
Then for another set of stores it is (sales price - 15%) – cost – shipping cost + shipping paid = profit.
Looking forward to starting and getting this project wrapped up quickly if possible. Hope to establish a long-term partner as we constantly need assistance with database updates.
