- New Functionality to an existing MS Access Front End & SQL Back End Invoice/Quoting Application
-HTML Tabs on invoice line items, and data tables to track said ‘tabs’
We have an existing Invoice Management System written with a MS Access 2010 Front End and SQL 2008 R2 back end installed on a laptop that recently had its operating system reinstalled. The previous programmer is not available.
The application functionality and database schema is comprehensive so developers with experience with intermediate / advanced desktop applications are best suited for the project.
New Functionality Summary
Objectives
a) Create the ability to assign multiple HTML links associated to each line
item on an invoice that will appear as multiple ‘tabs’ associated to
each line item .
b) Each HTML Link associated to a line item on invoice will be displayed
as a ‘tab’ .There will be up to 9 tabs associated to each line item.
c) The html link ‘tabs’ will appear at the bottom right hand corner of each
line item where the extended price for line items appear on the invoice
form. –An existing invoice form can be copied and then add the
HTML Tabs on invoice line items functionality.
1. Each html ‘tab’ will have supporting data tables to capture fields
such as tab name, tab url, tab sort order, tab color tab comments
etc.
2. A line item level HTML Link Tab manager will provide an interface
to allow the up to 9 tabs to have the data fields modified, for each
line item (screen shots and form mockup are already created.) on
a line item by line item basis.
3. A line item manager for the entire invoice will allow a user to see
the categorization of the html tabs for every line item in the
invoice that has tabs … Whereas item b above allows the user
modify the tabs on a line item by line item bases.
d) The aforementioned functionality is to be integrated into the existing invoice
application schema.
To accomplish this the chosen programmer can follow the data joints and
table relationships of another function in the within the application that will
serve as a roadmap.
Note: Screen mock ups for the user interface and process flow for the
functionality outlined below is already created. Visualization of the mock up,
combined with the spec below will enhance the ramp up time for the chosen
developer.
e) The html tabs associated with a line item can occur one of three ways:
1) Fully Manual: Add manually by the user into a screen entitled
‘Line item Htmls to show on invoice’ .
2) Transferred from ‘html link tabs’ marked as ‘read-only’ line item part
number in price book:
Transfer pre-established html tabs -categorized as read only- stored in
the system’s price book for the said line item part number – and
transfer said read only data into the ‘
‘Line item Html to show on invoice’ screen.
3) Transferred from ‘html link tabs’ marked as ‘read only’ line item part
number in price book and use as a baseline to make modifications to
the html link tabs:
Transfer pre-established html tabs -categorized as read only- stored in
the system’s pricebook for the said line item part number – and
transfer said read only data into the
‘Line item Html to show on invoice’ screen, and modify said html links'
