- Probably the simplest ARCMap job you have ever bid on. Our desktop version does everything we need with about 2700 lines of C# code.
The task is to set up a web-based map generator on our AWS service
It uses shape files provided by the county, and modified by us. You (developer) will not need to worry about the modifications. These are two-dimensional shapes; we generally use only one layer – sometimes two. The shapes are simply outlines of property boundaries. There may be a layer with street names, and perhaps easements or flood plains, but usually not.
We must be able to upload updated shape files as the counties provide them.
The app user will input a property ID number, and will be provided checkboxes to select the information they want to see.
The app will search for the account number in a special column in the shape file. This column will be added by us before uploading to the server.
The app will search for the account, and if not found, return an appropriate message.
If found, the app will suggest a search radius. The formula for this search radius has already been written, and will be provided to you, the developer, for adaptation. The user must be able to modify the suggested radius if needed.
We have a Transact-SQL database that the AWS server will request data from. The data will not be stored on the AWS server unless there is absolutely no other choice.
The app will send the chosen account number and account numbers of all of the properties (parcels) within the user's chosen radius by whatever means you (the developer) need, along with the data categories (square feet, values, account number, etc.) that the user wishes to view.
The T-SQL server will analyze the data that you send, and will return certain data.
App will parse the returned data and label the parcels. The font size will often have to be adjusted, and often the text rotated to fit longitudinally. The subject property (The account that the user inputs will be indicated by a bolder border, or other indicator that will stand out).
The app must provide a print button that will hand the user a document (probably pdf), 11x17" (Ledger size) rotated landscape. Color may be used, but everything must look good in black and white or greyscale.
Once functional, we will probably need support from time to time, but it is such a simple task that it will pretty much take care of itself.
