- Jones & Associates is the largest accountancy in California serving the nonprofit industry exclusively. We have been expanding rapidly over the last few years, and are now looking for a part time resource to support clients managing multiple city, state and federal grants. The Grants Manager will be an experienced professional providing excellent customer service to both new and existing nonprofit accounts.

The Grants Manager will support Jones and Associates managers in grant management, including tracking, reporting, and budgeting for their grants. Many of Jones & Associates largest clients rely on grants for their funding, so this role is integral to our (and their) success. Attention to detail, stellar organization and customer service skills are critical.
This job may be performed remotely and will require 20-30 hours per week. Although candidates should be available for client questions during PST working hours, there is some scheduling flexibility.
Responsibilities:
•Review grant/contract finances, compliance requirements and reporting through each stage in the life cycle of a grant/contract, from proposal to close out.
•Prepare and review timesheet allocations for proper accounting of staff FTEs for relevant grants
•Conduct cost analysis of active agreements, monitor spending based on agreement restrictions and deliverables
•Maintain grant rollforward report for tracking of current fund balances
•Prepare invoices for reimbursement on a timely basis
•Monitor the receipt of payments
•Coordinate/arrange grant audits, as needed
•Prepare and post applicable general ledger entries
•Create and maintain budget and budget narratives for proposals, grants, contracts, and amendments.
•Act as liaison between the client and the grant funding source, clarifying areas of ambiguity and insuring that all requirements are understood and addressed
•Keep appropriate staff alerted to upcoming grant reporting deadlines
•Assist in the preparation of annual audits.
•Assist in preparation of annual budgets in coordination with client department heads and outsourced CFO.
Required skills & experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
•Minimum of five years work experience with three years of grant management experience.
•Demonstrated experience in the oversight of complex grant and contract agreements.
•Working knowledge of US federal, state and local funding sources; and requirements of each
•Solid grasp of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for nonprofit organizations.
•Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
•Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment to meet changing requirements and deadlines.
Preferred skills & experience:
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Demonstrated record of work within a team.
•Experience working with homeless service agencies preferred.
•Strong ability to operate independently; a self starter and problem solver
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as Abila MIP, QuickBooks, Great Plains, Financial Edge, and Bill.com.
