- I need help to design a short survey, so there is less bias and subjectivity in the answers.
A consulting company has commissioned me to write a whitepaper to promote its approach to digital transformation projects. In the whitepaper, I explore why projects using a certain technology rarely achieve their business objectives, even when an IT solution is delivered.
For now, I would ask the company employees to answer 2-4 survey questions hoping their experience matches the pattern above. Later on, the company would collect more answers from external sources.
My list of challenges to design this survey is:
1. How to make the question "did solution X realize the business case?" more objective?
2. How to statistically compare with answers to the question "was the solution X delivered into a production environment?"
3. How to deal with cases where the respondent does not know?
4. How to maximize answer accuracy when a project happened several years ago?5. What to define a project or solution, to ensure statistical consistency?
My expertise is in digital transformation projects and my understanding of academic research methods is limited. Therefore, I am looking for someone to advise me.
The deliverables are: an initial 1-hour consultation to clarify the challenges and another 1-hour consultation a couple of days later, after you have had a chance to prepare your recommendations, so we would finalize the survey design together.
I prefer to use Zoom online meetings with video and screen sharing.
