With a curatorial eye and amazing people skills, we are looking for a Market Manager to event manage our Saturday Market.
The Market Manager will thrive in a friendly and busy environment, have a creative approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for forward-planning and excellent organisational skills.
The Market Manager will work closely with our Communications and Marketing team to increase exposure of the markets through social media and publications.
Key Areas of Responsibility
You will be the face of the Markets to traders and the public alike, responsible for ensuring the best possible experience for both.
Understanding the needs of the market, its traders and visitors, you will plan, deliver and manage a strategy to develop the markets.
Overseeing all operations relating to the market, including supervising the market caretaker and the team who set up and take down the market stalls at the weekends and special events.
Managing all requirements relating to risk assessments, fire safety, responsible practice in relation to sale of alcohol, recycling, waste management and cleaning
Ensuring that all rules for traders and members of the public are adhered to.
Planning and undertaking premises license applications. You will need a personal license and be responsible for upholding the objectives of our premises license, acting as DPS on market days.
Identifying any maintenance issues and working with our maintenance team to resolve these promptly and effectively.
Building and maintaining good relationships with market residents and traders and acting as a positive link between traders, customers and the local community.
Follow social media strategies to execute effective campaigns and create engaging content to increase the online presence of the market
Arriving on site early each Saturday to welcome new traders and inform them of stall plan. Ensuring the site is secured at the end of each day and all visitors and traders have departed.
Liaising with our Security team to highlight any security concerns and ensure the market is being monitored overnight.
Desirable Skills
Financial & business acumen, as well as basic competency using Wordpress and Google Doc & Sheets, preferred
Positive and resilient attitude
Any understanding of market and food stall workings
Social Media proficient
